Unum, who was anchored back into the overworld, awoke from hearing a one-sided argument that was happening outside. The calm tone that stood against the vehement tirade of frustration and insults. Heavy step stomping away from the stabilizing chamber, angrily rambling on the risk and consequences. The older individual sighs as the sounds of mechanism and low ringing runes start to shift, as the chamber door opens, giving way to Omega. The serene man, walking into the chamber would a
plate of food, potions, and a couple of books, Omega cast his gaze toward Unum.

“Morning. How are you doing?” Omega questions Unum. “Uh… Fine.” Unum while somewhat cautious and awkward toward the man who saved him from being ripped apart by a million burning knives. Omega nodded at Unum’s answer “Good. Here’s breakfast, medicines, and some books while you are here with us.” He said with a caring voice yet is tinged in exhaustion that even sleep can’t clear it. Unum seems to have words stuck in his throat ”…Sorry.” Omega nod, there was no need for context when his neck and hands ache being reminded the first time they meet Unum. “Apology accepted, don’t worry my friend. I don’t fault you for it… Oh and for my dear Oceris, she’ll come around eventually. I apologize for her words” He tries to reassure Unum with a somber smile, passing over a simple bowl of stew to Unum.

U: “Why do you call me friend?”

O: “A simple habit… You were once a friend of Oceris and I.”

U: “I was… who was I?”

O: ”… Pale. That was his name, a family to Oceris.”

U: “What happened?”

O: “Wit- Cataclysm. We lost him then.”

U: ”… And I am him?”

O: “Physically? you check every box and description. But you are someone else.”

U: “What is she to you?”

O: “My dau- Someone that I’ve come to care a lot for. Although… truth to be told, I don’t think she likes me that much anymore.”

U: “Why?”

O: “A promise broken. I failed. I live atoning for all the sins I’ve stained myself in. During the cataclysm, I did what I believe is the best option and sent her away to safety. But Karma has a different twist, I’ve come to this new world to only be punished with a year worth of life to see her grow. She isn’t broken, mind you… but everyday I regret the reality I lost, but I will never regret keeping her safe.”

U: visibly awkward, the silence is deafening

O: definitely ignoring Unum’s situation “Seeing her glow when things spark her curiosity has always uplifted me when I have it worse alone. Every time she brings in a different creature, pets, that sparkle has always kept me going away from the worst day of my life. Teaching her through the ropes, seeing her fail and rise again is such a heart warming feeling. You can’t help wanting to protect. Even with all the bickering we have now… Seeing her keep on keeping on is all I care about. But I do have to keep this face of mine from being shown.” he somberly smile

Omega ends his words as the second inhabitant of the deep sea opens up the chamber and walks into the room. “Omega… Can you come out here and help me with the Steam Engine.” she said with the most complex interwoven feeling, full of anger, frustration, caution hidden behind an expressionless face. She takes a quick glance at Unum and walks out of the chamber, Omega silently and stealthily shaking his head. “Take care… my fri- Unum, we’ll figure something out.” He stands, giving Unum a quick nod before walking out.
